Lunch to kick off the 2018 Hall of Honor

On Thursday, August 2, 2018, from 11:30 to 1:00 the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation will host a luncheon at Fayetteville High School. The event will include the announcement of the 2018 Hall of Honor Inductees.

The four new Inductees will be joining seventy-five previous inductees.

Mary “Faye” Jones- Fayetteville Public Schools Educator

Educator at Fayetteville Public Schools for nearly 40 years, Faye is well-known for becoming one of the first kindergarten teachers in the school district. Her dedication to our students and parents as principal at Bates and Root Elementary Schools is legendary.

Dr. James Hunt, DDS- FHS Class of 1952

Distinguished Fayetteville pediatric dentist. In 1967, Dr. Hunt initiated the Fayetteville Youth Dental Program at FHS and over the years volunteered innumerable professional hours to provide screenings and care for thousands of low-income district students.

Peggy Taylor Lewis- FHS Class of 1954

Peggy was one of the first students to integrate and graduate from Fayetteville High School on the cusp of the Civil Rights movement. During this historic time in Arkansas and the United States, she was an unsung pioneer among her classmates.

George Spencer- Fayetteville Public Schools Educator, Student Choice Award, Posthumous

For three decades, George inspired students at Fayetteville High School through his charismatic chemistry teaching. He was a mentor to his students, a phenomenal and relational educator, who led by example with humility and genuine character.

Those in attendance at the announcement luncheon will be the 2018 Inductees, past Inductees, Board members of the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation, Fayetteville Board of Education and friends and supporters of our public schools.

The 2018 Hall of Honor Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, October 11th at the Fayetteville Public Library. Garrison Financial will be the Presenting Sponsor of the event. The Fayetteville Public Schools’ Hall of Honor is sponsored by the Fayetteville Public Education Foundation in collaboration with the Fayetteville High School Student Council.

A full biography of each 2018 Inductee provided at the luncheon.
